How to Winterize Your RV

WINTERIZING INSTRUCTIONS


METHOD I

(Anti-freeze requirements:2-4 gallons)

1. Drain entire water system including water heater.
2. Close off all drains and faucets.
3. By-pass water heater:
A. All water heaters have an inlet on the bottom and an outlet on top.
B. Take inlet and outlet lines off of water heater.
C. Couple the inlet line and the outlet line together. This by-passes the
water heater. CAUTION: DO NOT CROSS THREAD LINES!!
4. Pour anti-freeze into system.
5. Activate pump.
6. Open all the faucets one at a time until anti-freeze comes through line,
then close off and go to next faucet.
7. Make sure to put anti-freeze through all appliances that use water
including toilet, shower, faucets, etc.
8. With system still pressurized, go to outside water entry and depress check
value so that anti-freeze will enter it.
9. Turn off pump.
10. Your entire water system is now winterized and ready.

WARNING: If at any time water is reintroduced into the system, the
entire winterizing process must be repeated!

METHOD II

(Anti-freeze requirement: 8-14 gallons)

1. Drain entire system including water heater.
2. Close off all drains and faucets.
3. Pour anti-freeze into system.
4. Open hot water side of faucet nearest water heater.
5. Activate pump.
6. When a full stream of anti-freeze comes from faucet, close off valve/
7. Open all faucets one at a time until anti-freeze comes through line, then close
off and go to next faucet.
8. Make sure to put anti-freeze through all appliances that use water.
9. With system still pressurized, go to outside water entry and depress check valve so that anti-freeze will enter it.
10. Turn off pump.
11. Your entire water system is now winterized.
